Company St. Croix was founded in the US state of Wisconsin in 1945 by passionate anglers - brothers Bob and Bill Johnson, who opened a private workshop in the town of Park Falls. In 1948, the brothers became interested in the idea of finding a simple and cheap way to transport large fishing rods. After brainstorming and successful experiments, they created the first two- and three-section bamboo fishing rods. A local fishing tackle dealer liked the brothers’ idea, and he ordered a trial batch of five hundred rods. This event is considered the birthday of St. Croix.
In 1955, natural materials for the manufacture of fishing rods replaced artificial ones. Durable, flexible and lightweight, fiberglass has replaced bamboo. St. Croix immediately mastered the production of this technologically advanced material. The following year, embodying the idea of easy and simple transportation of rods, the company introduced a new line of Whip-Out and Flip-Out. 1983 – the beginning of the graphite era, and St. Croix introduces full carbon rods to the market.
Now the company St. Croix is a leading operator in the US and global fishing markets. It is systematically developing, striving to provide every angler with maximum pleasure from first-class and highly effective gear!
